Physiotherapists for private treatment in Kendal, Cumbria and Lancashire
David Webster, BSc Hons, MCSP, HPC Registered, AACP

Having qualified from the University of Leeds (York St John College) in January 2006, I then worked full time in the NHS. After qualifying I obtained a job within the local health trust in Morecambe Bay where I worked for 6 years. Having specialised in MSK physiotherapy and after completing a number of post graduate courses including Orthopaedic Medicine and acupuncture, I was lucky enough to take a post based within Newcastle upon Tyne Hospital Trust. Working in such big environment I treated a number of different conditions, which included assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of a variety of patients from arthritic conditions right through to complex reconstructive surgery. I had interesting opportunities such as working in fracture clinics and running rehabilitation classes. Whilst working in Newcastle, I further developed my interest in shoulder assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. I was lucky enough to work alongside specialist Physiotherapists and Orthopaedic Consultants who solely dealt with the shoulder.
Supplementary work within physiotherapy has included 5 seasons of appearing on Sky sports as the first team physiotherapist with Barrow Raiders Rugby League football club. This role included treatment, rehabilitation and acute trauma management of semi-professional and professional sports people (and hoping that I didn't trip over when the camera was on me). I also worked privately for a firm in the north east who had close links with Durham Triathlon Club.
On a personal note, missing home, being close to family and a love for the lakes has brought my partner and I back to the area. We enjoy all things outdoors and most weekends I can be found on my bike or in the Fells walking. When I get chance I also enjoy strapping a snowboard to my feet and heading down hill (quickly and not very controlled). My main normal sport is badminton which I have played for a number of years both locally and in the north east.
My focus of physiotherapy assessment and treatment is regaining function and normal movement, using a mixture of exercise, manual, soft tissue therapy, taping and acupuncture. I'm a big fan of treat the cause rather than the symptoms. I enjoy also taking a preventative approach, looking at movement and treating weaknesses and tightness to prevent injury which can help enhance performance.
I feel that no question is too simple to ask, so please feel free I will always try and give an honest answer.
